Introduction

Water & Sanitation

RWF Nigeria has consistently prioritised access to clean water and sanitation through its WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) initiatives. To date, the organisation has primarily focused on equipping primary schools and health centres across Eastern Nigeria with clean drinking water, as well as safe and hygienic sanitary facilities. Importantly, these interventions also extend to local communities surrounding the project sites, ensuring that residents, especially vulnerable children aged 0 to 5 years, benefit from improved health and hygiene conditions.

RWF’s WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) projects are dedicated to improving access to clean water and sanitation in rural communities across South East Nigeria. The initiative focuses on equipping primary schools and health centres with boreholes, overhead water tanks, and ultra-modern toilet facilities. In addition to new installations, the project also renovates existing water and sanitation infrastructure to ensure safe, sustainable, and dignified environments for learning and healthcare.

RWF Nigeria has been in partnership with the Wild Geese Foundation Netherlands since 2013 through its sister organisation – Stichting Rural Women Foundation – who works directly with Wild Geese Foundation to raise funds in the Netherlands through both private, family and philanthropic organisations to support all its wash projects.
RWF has since 2013 implemented 27 WASH projects in direct collaboration with Wild Geese Foundation in three states (Anambra, Enugu and Imo States) in South East Nigeria.
