Other Projects

In addition to the WASH projects carried out by RWF in collaboration with Wilde Ganzen and other donors in the Netherlands and made possible through its sister organisation the Stichting RWF in the Netherlands, we have also implemented other WASH projects with other partners in the Netherlands.

What Did We Do
AFAS Foundation
AFAS Foundation, an organisation based in the Netherlands funded a WASH project which facilitated the construction of an ultra-modern toilet building and solar-powered borehole at Amaokwe Community primary school in Imo State, Nigeria in 2018. We want to seize this opportunity to thank AFAS Foundation for their support.
Contribute Foundation

We started our collaboration with Contribute Foundation in 2018 through our sister organisation in the Netherlands who helped us to secure funding from Contribute to implement a water and sanitation project at Edeke Community primary school in Isseke, Ihiala LGA in Anambra state. This was the first project we implemented with full funding from Contribute Foundation and this project was commissioned in June 2019.

RWF also implemented a second WASH project with full funding from Contribute Foundation towards the end of 2019 at the Community Primary Health Centre in Isseke, Ihiala LGA, Anambra state. This project was commissioned in early March 2020 just before the corona crisis began all over the world.

Corona Mitigation

In March 2020, at the height of the corona crisis in the world, Contribute Foundation provided funding to RWF Nigeria through its sister organisation in the Netherlands to help mitigate the impact of the coronavirus spread across 9 communities in Anambra and Imo states.

These were communities where RWF had in previous years already implemented some WASH projects and especially community primary health centres were targeted.

Some of the activities carried out included:

  • distributing 10,000 English-language pamphlets with protective measures against the coronavirus in collaboration with 9 health centres in the 9 communities involved;
  • producing and broadcasting English-language radio spots on protective measures on 2 regional stations;
  • creating and hanging 20 banners with protective measures in central locations in the villages;
  • distributing messages about the project and the protective measures twice a day by village criers;
  • purchase and distribution of 2500 hand soaps and disinfectants to nine health centres and the hospital in Ukpo;
  • purchase and distribution of 10,000 masks to nine health centres and the hospital in Ukpo;
  • purchase and distribution of 20 infrared thermometers to the 9 health centres and the hospital in Ukpo;
  • purchase and distribution of 15,000 pairs of gloves for the aid workers of the 9 health centres and the hospital in Ukpo;
  • purchase and distribution of 500 eye protection goggles for the aid workers of the 9 health centres and the hospital in Ukpo;
  • emergency aid distribution of food packages to various vulnerable households in the selected communities.
