What Drives Us

Our Mission

Improving the lives of women and children in local communities through education, health, economic empowerment and social amenities.

More About Us

RWF Nigeria is a community-focused development organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for vulnerable populations across Eastern Nigeria. Since its founding, RWF has implemented integrated programs that address core needs in education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and water and sanitation, with a special emphasis on serving orphans, vulnerable children, and women. Our holistic approach ensures that communities are not only supported, but also strengthened for long-term sustainability.

Education

Creating Equal Opportunities Through Learning

In 2018, RWF Nigeria established the RWF International School at its regional hub in Ukpo. The school currently serves 513 pupils and is staffed by 42 qualified teachers, providing nursery, primary, and secondary education. To promote inclusion, RWF offers full scholarships to orphans and vulnerable children, covering tuition, school uniforms, books, and additional fees. This initiative ensures access to quality education for children who would otherwise be left behind, laying the foundation for a brighter future.

Health

Comprehensive HIV/AIDS and Family Planning Interventions

Since 2006, RWF Nigeria has been at the forefront of HIV/AIDS response programs in Eastern Nigeria. Key services include:

  • HIV prevention education
  • Voluntary counselling and testing
  • Home-based care and support for people living with HIV
  • Psychosocial and nutritional support for affected families

In tandem with its HIV work, RWF has expanded its health portfolio to include family planning education and services, equipping individuals and couples with the knowledge and tools to make informed reproductive health choices. These initiatives contribute to reduced maternal and child mortality, better birth outcomes, and improved family well-being.

Empowerment & Poverty Alleviation

Building Economic Resilience
RWF Nigeria runs empowerment and poverty alleviation programs aimed at enhancing economic stability for families, especially women, youth, and caregivers of vulnerable children. These programs provide:

  • Vocational and entrepreneurship training
  • Access to micro-grants and start-up support
  • Financial literacy and skills development

Through these interventions, RWF fosters self-reliance, income generation, and long-term poverty reduction, creating pathways to a more dignified and independent life.

Water and Sanitation

Enhancing Health Through Clean Water Access

Access to clean water and adequate sanitation is vital for public health. RWF Nigeria has supported primary schools, health centres, and surrounding communities by installing boreholes, water storage systems, and hygienic sanitation facilities. These WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) efforts particularly benefit children under the age of five, who are most at risk of waterborne illnesses. By improving hygiene infrastructure, RWF helps prevent disease, improve school attendance, and foster healthier living environments.
